My life in a informal settlement

Hi there I am Zinggo I live in a informal settlement.I am in Grade 5 and my life is hard.My family is very poor.We live in a big shack. My house has five rooms and I share a bedroom with my brothers. We have a gas stove witch we cook with and I have no privacy . My dad works at a factory and my mom does not have a job she looks after my two younger brothers.Every morning When I wake up I have to go to school but for breakfast I only have a banana. When I walk to school I get thorns in my feet because
my shoes have holes in it.I really wish that we had a bigger class rooms because we have so much children in our class.

Every afternoon My friend Danda and I go play soccer with the people called  super star. After we played are so thirsty but the we are so far from the and the water in the tap and it is so dirty. When I go to back home we have pap and we have pork every day. I wish I could we can have different type of food. When it rains we always have have leaks in our roof.I wish we had a proper house with a proper roof and a proper toilet and a tap in my house.

Yesterday I got a letter from super star. I will be going to a very nice school in Canada. My dad got a proper job in Canada.

  1. Jayden, you describe some important aspects of Zinggo's home environment. Some of your ideas, e.g. a five-room shack and eating pork for supper, are a little unrealistic! These would be luxuries! Apart from the improvements to your home, what changes would you like to see in the wider township environment?
